June 9th 2010, Bowling Green to Chattanooga – Hot Rod Power Tour
We left Bowling Green for Chattanooga Tennessee on the 4th day of the power tour. The clouds were dark and low as we pulled out of the hotel parking lot. Within an hour the clouds opened up and blasted us with rain. Through the mountains the clouds and rain mixed with fog making travel more dangerous. Several older cars pulled over. even though our window wipers were antiquated we kept going. We followed Clyde and Ed in what was now being called “our chase car’, the Buick Riveria with license tags “RIV”.
We arrived with a cloud burst and was immediately soaked. I found a vendor that not only sold umbrellas but also poncho’s. I walked through puddles and plopped down cash, walking away with 4 umbrella’s and 4 ponchos. We stayed about an our total.
Following are some pictures of the event at a community college. Clyde wanted to go to Nikki’s Drivein, a local diner that had been around for many years. One of the students drew a map. There was a great view and the food was greasy and very satisfying, especially the onion rings, which Nikki’s is known for.
